JTBD Interview Coaching with AI: Stop Collecting Polite Lies

Jobs-to-be-Done interviews work because they study real past behaviour — the last time the customer actually struggled, what they hired to fix it, and what progress they were really seeking — instead of speculation about the future. The technique is powerful and fragile: one leading question, one hypothetical accepted as evidence, one mid-interview pitch, and the data is corrupted.

Ask Loopion Coach evaluates the interviewer's technique from the transcript. Did they anchor in real past events? Did they find the struggling moment and what it cost? Did they dig from feature requests down to underlying outcomes? And did they keep their own talk-share down — because an interviewer doing a third of the talking is running a pitch, not research.

What the Coach scores — element by element

Ask Loopion Coach evaluates Jobs-to-be-Done the way a rigorous practitioner would: each element scored Strong / Partial / Missing, each judgement backed by a quote or specific moment from the real conversation — never a single overall number with no breakdown.

Past behaviour over speculation

Did they ask about real past events ('walk me through the last time you…') rather than hypotheticals? Accepting 'yes, I'd definitely use that' as evidence is the cardinal JTBD sin.

The struggling moment

Did they uncover what triggered the search for a solution — the specific event, when it happened, what it cost?

Progress sought

Did they reach the functional job and the emotional/social dimensions — what success lets this person do, feel, or look like to others?

Hiring and firing

Did they explore what the customer currently 'hires' for the job — including spreadsheets, workarounds and doing nothing — and what would make them fire it?

Outcomes not features

When the customer requested a feature, did the interviewer dig for the underlying outcome instead of writing the feature down and moving on?

The failure patterns it catches

Frameworks fail quietly. These are the patterns the Coach flags specifically — with the evidence quoted, so the coaching conversation starts from facts rather than recollections:

  • !

Hypothetical enthusiasm ('I'd definitely use that') recorded as validation

  • !

Interviews that never found the triggering event or what the struggle cost

  • !

Feature requests written down verbatim with the underlying outcome never explored

  • !

Interviewer talk-share above a third of the conversation — research that became a pitch

What you can ask

The Coach lives inside Ask Loopion. Ask in plain language — about one call, one person, one deal, or the whole team across a quarter:

💬

Evaluate yesterday's customer interview against JTBD

💬

Did I ask any leading questions? Quote them

💬

What was the customer's actual struggling moment, in their words?

💬

Did I pitch mid-interview? Where?

💬

Which interviews this month accepted hypotheticals as evidence?

💬

What outcomes sit behind the feature requests we collected this quarter?

Who uses it

Product and UX research teams use JTBD scoring to raise interview quality across everyone who talks to customers — not just trained researchers; founders use it to keep discovery honest before committing roadmap; product marketing mines the evidence for real customer language.

How the platform backs it up

1

Every meeting captured

Loopion joins your Teams and Zoom meetings automatically and transcribes them in 99 languages — the Coach evaluates real conversations, not self-reported summaries.

2

Evidence, not opinion

Every score is backed by a quote or specific moment from the transcript. You can check every judgement.

3

Coaching that gets executed

Evaluations end with concrete actions — and Loopion's carry-forward brings unfinished coaching actions back into future meetings until they're done.

4

Defaults per team

Set Jobs-to-be-Done as the default framework for the right team in Settings → Ask Loopion Coaching, and every evaluation automatically uses it.

5

Or bring your own

Workspaces can define custom frameworks — your in-house methodology, scorecard or rubric — and the Coach evaluates against your criteria with the same element-by-element rigour.
